1. Where do I purchase a hangtag for my car?
See our front office.
2. What do I need to bring to purchase a hangtag?
You need a valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, proof of insurance and $ 5.00.
3. If I have my Learners license, can I drive to school?
No, you must have a regular driving license.
4. If I drive a motorcycle, do I still need to buy a hangtag?
Yes, all vehicles regardless of make, model, etc. need to be registered through our office.
5. Do I need to buy a locker?
No, lockers are optional but strongly encouraged.
6. How much do lockers cost?
The cost is $ 2.00 for the year
7. If it is OK with my friends, can we share a locker?
No! Sharing lockers is not allowed due to theft and contraband. If you purchase a locker, you are responsible for that locker and its contents.
8. If, for whatever reason, we had to evacuate our campus, where can our parents pick us up?
We have two off campus evacuation sites. Our first site is Lennard High School, located at 2802 East Shell Point Road, Ruskin, Florida. The second site is Sun City Center, located at 814 Freedom Plaza Circle, Sun City, Florida.
9. Where can I pick up a free/reduced lunch application?
You can pick one up in the main office, fill it out and return it to the lunchroom manager.
10. How can I get a bus pass?
You can get one from the front office in the morning because we have to make parent contact to make sure that it is OK with your parents to give you a bus pass. If a student is sent to the main office after lunch or anytime in the afternoon, we will try to accommodate but very unlikely that we can get that student a bus pass.
11. If I am suspended from SCCC can I return to school at the end of the day to pick up my friends during my suspension?
No, in fact you may not attend any extracurricular activities involving our school and must stay away from our campus and any other Hillsborough County Schools’ campuses until your suspension is over.
12. If I need to drive one day out of the year, do I need to purchase a hangtag?
No, you may get a one-day parking pass through the main office.
13. If I arrive late to school, may I just go straight to class?
No, you must sign in at the front office anytime you get to school late or if you leave early.
14. Is it true that I could loose my driver’s license for having too many absences?
Yes, Florida statue 322.091 establishes eligibility and attendance for maintaining driving privileges. Any student, who is under the age of 18 and accumulates 15 unexcused absences in a period of 90 calendar days, must be reported to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV).
15. If I’m a teacher and I need to drive a different car to school do I need to register it?
Yes, if you are planning on using more than one car to come to work, you need to write down all the potential vehicles that you will be using throughout the year.
16. If a student gets his/her driving privilege taken away, can they drive another car and leave suspended car at home?
No, the intent is to discipline the student not the car.
How about the suspended driving student being a passenger and a friend driving his car?
No again the intent is to discipline the student and not the friend or the car.
17. If a student needs to go to his car, can a teacher just give him a pass to the student parking lot?
No, the student needs to be sent to the front office and permission from an administrator or the School Security Officer.
18. Can students bring cameras or camcorders to school?
No, these items are not allowed in school.
19. If I’m a teacher can I send a student to the faculty dining area to get me a soda and a snack?
No, students are not allowed to be in the teacher’s dinning area. Also food and drink are not allowed in the classrooms.
20. What should a teacher do if a student is pregnant and needs to have a snack or food?
You can send that student to the front office where she will get a pass to purchase food from the lunchroom and eat it in the patio area by the lunchroom. Do not send students directly to the lunchroom.
21. If I’m a faculty member and I get auto services done, can I pay for those services at the end of the school year?
No, you must pay for those services when your car is returned.
22. Can students that get arrested outside of school be suspended from school?
Yes! Suspension proceedings may be initiated against any enrolled student who is formally charged with a felony, if that incident is shown to have an adverse impact on the educational program, discipline, or welfare in the school in which the student is enrolled.
Other Important Information:
Bus Transportation: Students who are provided transportation will be expected to ride to and from school. Changes due to extenuating circumstances should be requested in writing in advance by the front office.
Cell Phones: Cell phones are not to be on during school or on the bus.
Hall Passes: A student my leave class for an emergency only with a pass from a teacher.
Hats: Hats may NOT be worn at school.
Lunches: Parents my prepay with cash or a check made out to the School.
Signing Out Early: Students leaving school prior to dismissal time must be signed out by those people whose names are provided on the student's Emergency Card as parent/guardian. Picture ID is required of any adult signout.
